Adapted DA Tools

THE TOOLS OF DA Adapted (revised 11/22/05)
Recovery from compulsive debting begins when we stop incurring new, unsecured debt, one day at a time. (Unsecured debt is any debt that is not backed up by some form of collateral, such as a house or other asset. Note: I am going for any debt.)
We attain a daily reprieve from compulsive debting by practicing the Twelve Steps (read: A Course in Miracles and by using the following tools.
MEETINGS -- We attend meetings either in person or online at which we share our experience, strength and hope with one another. Unless we give to newcomers what we have received from D.A., we cannot keep it ourselves.
RECORD MAINTENANCE -- We maintain records of our daily incomand expenseses, of our savings, and of the retirement of any portions of our outstanding debts.
SPONSORSHIP -- We have found it essential to our recovery to have a sponsors and/or to be a sponsor. A sponsor is a non-debtor who guides us through the the path of forgiveness, and shares his or her own experience, strength and guidance from the Holy Spirit. We sponsor others to maintain our own healing.
PRESSURE RELIEF GROUPS AND PRESSURE RELIEF MEETINGS After having gained some familiarity with the D.A. program, we organize Pressure Relief Groups. Pressure Relief Meetings review our financial situation. These meetings typically result in the formulation of a spending plan and ab action plan.
SPENDING PLAN -- The spending plan puts our needs first and gives us clarity and balance in our spending. It includes categories for income, spending, debt payment and savings. The income plan helps us fon increasing our income. The debt payment category guides umaking realistic payments arrangements without depriving ourselves. Savings plans include prudent reserves, retirement and special purchases (to help us build cash reserves, however humble).
ACTION PLAN -- With the help of our Pressure Relief Group, we list specific actions for resolving our debts, improving our financial situation, and achieving our visions without incurring debt.
THE TELEPHONE & THE INTERNET -- We maintain frequent contact with others by using the telephone, e-mail, and other means of communication.
DA LITERATURE -- We study the literature of A Course in Miracles to strengthen our understanding of our true nature, and the perception that we have already been given everything from our Creator in the Creation.
AWARENESS -- We maintain awareness of our perfect safety.
BUSINESS MEETINGS -- We are already one with our Creator, and accept the guidance of the Holy Spirit in every situation.
SERVICE -- We perform service at every level: giving is receiving.. .
ANONYMITY -- We practice silence and acceptance our our True Identity as the Children of God.
